Last Thursday I ventured out to Pier 94 at 55th St. on the West Side of Manhattan, and spent the day at the 10th annual Architectural Digest Home Design Show. I had the best day. I was only able to go one day and there was much to see and do and I missed a few great talks. I wish I could have returned on Friday to hear Incorporating Art with Design, featuring Eric Cohler, Francis D’Haene and Vincente Wolf. In any event, the show floor featured the most gorgeous rugs, glassware, kitchens, rift oak kitchen cabinets, Lindsey Adelman chandeliers – many many beautiful things – the newest and latest in home design. I was enjoying myself so much and constantly found myself in the company of friendly and very interesting people. Robert J Mc Hugh, an Interior Designer. His grandmother was a Mott. As in Mott Avenue, Far Rockaway. How interesting. We had many things to talk about. And then there was Bryan Quinlan and Darnell of Scenic Mesa located in Colorado. They sell buffalo leather tote bags, furniture and accessories. They had a tote bag with them – totally gorgeous. One artist – Michael J. Schunke a glass blower with a studio in West Grove, PA, was showing his collection of hand blown glassware. You can see my point and shoot photo here, as well as the official product shots Michael graciously supplied. These glasses are beyond. I can see these at the most colorful or most elegant and understated, dinner party table. You must see them in person up close and hold them. I am totally taken by the simplicity and beauty of this design I had to share.
